5 Holiday Events to Attend at the Walt Disney World Parks This Year

The Disney World theme parks are always magical to visit, but never more so than during the holiday season. Whether you're traveling to Orlando on vacation or you're a local resident, there are a handful of Disney events you won't want to miss over the next month. Here are the top five we recommend checking out while you celebrate the holidays.

1. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at The Magic Kingdom

This is by far the best holiday tradition to take part in at Disney during December. Mickey Mouse partners with Santa to spread Christmas cheer throughout the park. The Magic Kingdom will close to anyone who doesn't have a ticket to the holiday party, so you can ride your favorite attractions without battling enormous crowds. Plus, there are special shows and character meet-and-greet opportunities, as well as holiday treats and drinks.

The party takes place on select nights from now until December 21. Tickets must be purchased separately from park admission and start at $99. You'll save money if you buy early, so act quickly!

2. International Festival of the Holidays at Epcot

There's nothing more festive than celebrating the holidays like a real world traveler. At the World Showcase in Disney's Epcot, different holiday traditions from around the globe will be brought to life. Taste seasonal foods and take in the wondrous sights, then watch as costumed performers put on shows throughout the night.

International Festival of the Holidays takes place from now until December 30, and admission is free with a valid park ticket.

3. Sunset Seasons Greetings at Hollywood Studios

The Hollywood Tower of Terror Hotel is always Instagram-worthy, but it's never more captivating than when it's decked out in holiday lights and colors. Grab your regular park admission ticket to Hollywood Studios, then enjoy riding your favorite attractions while soaking in a little bit of extra holiday cheer and decor. Even the characters will be dressed up in their Christmas ensembles.

4. Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! at Hollywood Studios

This intense firework show comes complete with special effects, unbelievable projections and holiday music. Disney's Hollywood Studios will be decked out in its holiday best, and if you want to take things to the next level, you can indulge in a decadent dessert party before watching the firework show from a special viewing area.

The show will play nightly until January 6 and admission is free, as long as you have tickets to the park.

5. The Candlelight Processional at Epcot

At the World Showcase from November 22 to December 30, at three showtimes per day, a 50-piece orchestra and choir will sing the song of Christmas. A celebrity narrator will also be present to tell the audience the Biblical tale of a babe born in Bethlehem. Listen to the moving performance, then grab dinner at one of Epcot's many fantastic restaurants. Admission to the show is free with a valid park ticket.
